- They were from the Northeast and used to live in Queens.
- Don's mother died of TB when he was young. His father had him go to an orphanage in upstate NY.
- Don's father painted the Triboro bridge. Don like all good NYers is disheartened that they changed the name of the Triboro to RFK. Also, he said that when a painter fell of the bridge, his father would get to go home early. The guys he worked with used to joke that that they should draw straws to see who would fall of the bridge each day.
- Don was in the military and then taught at Exeter in NH (one of my clients) for several years.
They were headed back to their home in San Francisco after breakfast or we would have hung out with them for the rest of the time here. They were great old people. I am sure they walked away thinking those two boys from the East Coast were nice.
